The Muslims lost control of Jerusalem which was a big defeat. The crusades died out and Jerusalem was in the hands of the Egyptians. Poor Jerusalem had so many changes in rule! The eastern and western parts of the Roman Empire weakend cause surrounding areas to weaken also. The Christians lost many churches, the losses that the Christians had was a big influence on them. Later the Islamic empire fell to the Mongol flood. But later many other crusades were launched with Christians but none as big as these ones. In the 3 crusade the Christians were under reign of King Richard the lionhearted.King Richard left with his soldiers from Europe to go gain the land of Jerusalem back. Richard was fighting over the holy land and the French which would make it hard for his military strategies. Richard regained many other lands but at the end of the 3 crusade Jerusalem lay in the hands of the Muslims.
