How did the Crusades influence Europe?
One thing that the crusades influenced ancient Europe was religion, they were a variety of religions such as : catholic, Muslims and Christians. The people of medieval times thought it was a sin to kill Christians, which relates to how death influenced them. Also the Europeans vowed to do anything to protect the crusader states. So they were very focused on the battles of the crusades.
The Muslim leader started to persecute Christians, a series of 3 wars broke out.I wouldn’t want to be there when that happened. Then a clash between Christians and Muslims began. So in conclusion to the question the crusades influence Europe in death, war and religion. The Arabs also had an impact on ancient Europe because they also controlled Jerusalem and were very tolerant of the Christians as Muslims were not. The holy land was refered to as palestine. this is the land that everyone wanted control of.
What were the Crusades?
The crusades were the medieval conflict between the religions mainly Christians and Muslims. These happend in the time period around 1096 and 1291.But Catholics were also part of it not as much as the Muslims and Christians though. The catholics were just the other religion standing by, because the crusades were in the time period of the Byzantine empire. As you can see in the picture below the cross was a sign that many soldiers wore into battle. The crusades were not only religion they were also political, economical and social. The government had ruled in the power of feudalism. The main thing that the crusades started was the Muslims wanted Jerusalem and the Christians had power.
How did the Crusades end?
But later many other crusades were launched with Christians but none as big as these ones. In the 3 crusade the Christians were under reign of King Richard the lionhearted.King Richard left with his soldiers from Europe to go gain the land of Jerusalem back. Richard was fighting over the holy land and the French which would make it hard for his military strategies. Richard regained many other lands but at the end of the 3 crusade Jerusalem lay in the hands of the Muslims.
What conflicts arose during the Crusades?
As Christianity became the dominant religion, the Muslims were being attacked by Arabs. Then the Arabs captured the city of Jerusalem. Jerusalem was a very popular city as you can see! Then the Muslims had control over Jerusalem and made it hard for the Christians to make pilgrimages there. The Muslims weren’t very nice to the Christians! But the Arabs tolerated the Christians religion. The pope sent troops to aid the Christians. When the Muslims were in war with the Christians. Yay!
